Cindy Berman is writing a book on leadership and wellbeing in the public & not-for-profit sector. She a specialist in human rights, international development, modern slavery, labour rights, gender equality, public procurement, migration and social exclusion. Born in South Africa, she was deeply involved in the anti-apartheid movement. Since then, she has worked in international and multilateral bodies; national government, with companies, trade unions, philanthropic organisations, large and small civil society organisations and academic institutions.

Cindy is also a Visiting Research Fellow at Exeter University, a Senior Associate at the Cambridge University Institute for Sustainability Leadership. She mentors students at the Blavatnik School of Government. Over the past 20 years, she has mentored women in the UK civil service Crossing Thresholds programme, supporting them to achieve their career and personal development goals. She volunteers with various community organisations and has sat on a number of high-level expert panels.

She has extensive global experience, particularly in Africa and Asia, in poor and middle-income countries and emerging economies, as well as in fragile and conflict affected states. Her skills include high-level policy engagement; strategy and organisational development; complex programme delivery; multi-stakeholder engagement; research; monitoring and evaluation.

Cindy is a Yoga and Nia dance teacher, loves nature, open water swimming, walking football, amongst other things.
